Big Sur Fire: Basin Complex Fire Map View July 5

Two views from Google Earth with overlays from Forest Service maps. I am still learning how to move the images from Google Earth to the blog. I'll figure it out.

The yellow dots indicate detected fire or hot spots in the last 12 hours. Red is active fire. As you can see Big Sur proper is not out of danger.

Keep in mind these images only represent a small fraction of the 69,000 acres burned so far. I wanted to offer a view of how the fire looks in town.
More images later

*If you don't have Google Earth on your computer do yourself a huge favor and get it!

Do you have any information about the homes on Partington Ridge?

Hi David,
I don't have any specific information. The people at Surfire2008.org have forums where you can post that question.
Best to you!
Mike
