Gap Fire Map, Santa Barbara News Links/Blogs

 
Santa Barbara Independent reporter Ray Ford reports on the Gap Fire. Ray is a top tier fire reporter and I encourage viewers here to follow his reports on the Gap Fire via RSS.

It's amazing to me only one structure has been destroyed by the Gap Fire considering the terrain, geography and extreme winds. Goleta residents can thank firefighters. Surely there were numerous hand to hand "combat" battles waged overnight.

As a Santa Barbara resident, I love reading Ray Ford's dispatches from the front line of fires. He did an excellent job on the Zaca fire last summer, and was starting to fill us in on the Basin Complex Fire, until Gap broke out. He is doing a great job on the Gap Fire as he is an avid outdoorsman who knows the landmarks and seems to understand the firefighting efforts from a military point of view.
