Telegraph Fire Maps
The map shown below does not include the legend. You must follow this Map Link for a legend description. The map is not a fire perimeter map as much as a definition of evacuation warnings and watches.

I'm posting another GeoMAC map with some reservation. The map shows activity that somewhat matches scanner traffic. GeoMAC appears to be much more than an hour behind. Take this as well as all material posted here for what it is.

Anon, you got me on that. when I read it the first time I assumed it was an extension of the perimeter. Upon futher review the map is confusing, more a map of evacuation areas even though Calfire point to is as a perimeter map.
Frankly I'm finding this is one area where the Feds trump the State.

From the way I see it, the "RED" color to the north is just "FIRE PERIMETER". The pinkish looks like they are over lapping the RED “FIRE PERIMETER” and PURPLE “MANDETORY” evacuation area color shading. My 2 cents… Chris

Check the timestamps at the bottom. GeoMAC is usually updated about once per day. Most of the change you see is the color-aging of otherwise unchanged data.
Also, I've never had an update come in on a "Refresh Map". I generally refresh the web page every few hours until the timestamps change and then zoom back to Telegraph.

The red/brown contiguous with the fire across the Merced appears to be just part of the fire.
The disjoint golden/brown in Coulterville and Greeley Hill appears to be prevac.

I've seen GeoMAC update several times a day (I've been clicking it a lot).
The pre-evac area shown is not accurate, as I am well outside the shaded area to the north (Smith Station & county line) but was visited by the sheriff yesterday at 14:30 for pre-evac notice, which we are still under.

Here is the explanation concerning GeoMAC updates for today;
HMS 2008-07-29 900 (GMT);
Thermal MODIS 2008-07-29 944(GMT);
Fire Perimeters 2008-07-29;
Sit Reports 2008-07-29
So some updates are once a day and some are updated throughout the day.
It's been my experience it updates all day long.
One thing certain, it's not real time!
