Trinity Alps Tragedy, An On Scene Account

 
The scope of the helicopter crash that claimed nine firefighters in the Trinity Alps is beginning to sink in. These guys were America's best, proud sons of Oregon and brothers in the greater firefighter family.

When accidents happen the incident is studied in order to prevent similar incidents in the future. In this case the firefighters were passengers. The investigation is in the hands of the NTSB.

Reports surrounding the accident are surfacing.

Here is a first person account of the crash.

My family sends our thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery for the four survivors. Our condolences to the families and friends of the 9 fallen firefighters.

Thank you for the update Mike. We haven't had much in the way of news after the first account on KION. Our deepest sympathies and prayers also go to families and friends of the 9 fallen firefighters.

NBC News the other night only made a passing referrence to the crash victims as firefighters. More than once they mentioned the "people" in the helicopter.
It was a typical mainstream media fluff report with flashy images in the background and a pretty face setting it up.
The reporter signed off the piece from Southern California. They didn't even send the reporter up to Redding.
Insulting.

The firefighters and pilots on that aircraft are in the same category as the 343 heroes who died in the Twin Towers or any municipal firefighter who dies in the line of duty.

I was only watching NBC because it was on for the Olympics.
