Bloggers As Journalists

I make no such claim but the result of this lawsuit may vault me into this classification.

Who knows I might be looking for a roving "correspondent" in time. There are many stories unreported from behind the fire lines.

Comments:
Like it or not Mike...Poof!

You're a Journalist!
Years ago the courts granted and the White House conceded Bloggers are Journalist after all it is a published Journal with proven readership.

Try going to a Firefighter memorial function, news conference, fire camp or even the White House, Make sure you have camera and maybe a notepad, mention your blog...Show some proof and ID...

Poof! You just became Press!

The Good: You will get a info packet, access, seating and parking etc...
The Bad: You will have people assigned to keep an eye on you and try to keep you somewhat Corralled...much harder to get the real unvarnished scoop or great photo.

The PIO's are great "people" people and I love everyone of them (Hi Julie, Brian, Nick, etc) but personally I wish I had stayed under the radar a little longer...Bob O

"Poof! You just became Press!"

I don't really want to be associated with a group of people that report and not help.

However, I might employ a pretty little 22 year old to attend major fire briefings though.
Short skirt and a little cleavage and my correspondent will get the scoop!
:-)
Guaranteed Pulitzer.
